Fort Madison Mis-Fits & Shrine Club

Who We Are

Our Members

FMSC is a group of concerned men, based in Fort Madison, Iowa, who enjoy having fun, helping kids and interacting with the general public. Our club holds meetings in and around the Fort Madison, area at various local restaurants. We hold our meetings on the third Wednesday evening of each month, typically at 6:30 p.m. and our Ladies are always welcome. We are called the "Mis-Fits" because we pride ourselves in including any member that wants to join regardless of what type of parade unit he owns (if he even owns one).

Our Dedication to Inform

We will keep you informed, here on this website, of our parade schedule, meeting schedule and other various events that we'll be involved in over time. Should you need to get ahold of us at ANY time, we have a link on the navigation bar that will send an email directly to the President of FMSC. Our President checks his email daily and, barring any unforseen issues, he will respond to your messages in a timely manner.

We have included three links in the site map at the bottom of the page. A direct link to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, a link to, and a link to the Kaaba Shrine's main website are all listed there. We also have links to a calendar that displays meeting info, event info and a parade schedule that our club participates in, events that are coming up in our area, highlighted events that the Kaaba Temple is planning, and a link to pictures of various events we have already enjoyed as a club.

What We Do

Parades and Other Events

Our club participates in a variety of events and fund raisers that everyone is welcome to participate in. Such events include parades and circuses around the southeastern Iowa area, an on-going poptab collection, an annual gun raffle, and an annual onion sale. The funds gathered from the poptab collections go directly to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. There are currently 22 Hospitals nationwide and we can set it up to get our kids to any one of them. Typically, our members, themselves, drive our kids and their families using the funds gathered by general donations to our transportation fund.

Some of our Shrine Clubs own their units that they bring to parades to raise awareness of the Shrine and what we do. Usually a club has a uniformity in what they own, such as "The Camel Wheels" or "The Rag Tops". FMSC is one of the clubs that is unified by being diversified ("Mis-Fits"). Our members might have similar parade units but they are very different, unlike the clubs mentioned above. Our guys have a few golfcarts, a moped, and a three wheel cushman that frequent parades in the area. These units have been transformed with love and care to make them unique to the member that owns it. We have created a gallery of pictures on this website that show some of the units we currently have.

Fund Raisers

Our members transport kids who require certain care to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children around the United States. One of the ways we raise funds is by collecting pop tabs from businesses and heavy traffic locations in the area. Other fund raisers, such as our annual Onion Sales, Gun Raffle and Circuses collect funds to help keep the Shrine open for business so we can help the kids. Everyone is welcome to join in and participate in these events, even if they're only able to support us with these functions financially. If you would like to donate to the Shrine, please feel free to CONTACT US.
